Truthful Manipulation is a podcast about influence, ethics, integrity, leadership, culture, psychology, power, persuasion, and the strange things people do when truth becomes inconvenient.
Hosted by David Kelsey and H. Daniel Mujahid, the show explores how manipulation works in everyday life — in business, politics, media, family, faith, technology, leadership, relationships, and public conversation.
But this is not a dry lecture series.
This is not two people whispering into microphones like they are afraid the truth might file a complaint.
Truthful Manipulation is serious, sharp, funny, honest, and sometimes justifiably sarcastic.
Because let’s be honest: some manipulation is so obvious it should come with a blinking yellow light and a guy in the background yelling, “This is nonsense!”
And yet, people still buy it.
That is why this podcast exists.
What Truthful Manipulation Means
The title Truthful Manipulation is meant to make people stop and think.
Manipulation is usually seen as dishonest, controlling, selfish, or deceptive.
And most of the time, it is.
But influence itself is not automatically wrong.
Every parent, teacher, coach, business owner, leader, pastor, speaker, friend, writer, salesperson, and public figure influences people in some way.
The real question is:
Are you using influence to help people see more clearly — or to control what they see?
Truthful Manipulation is about understanding the difference.
It is about recognizing when influence becomes deception.
It is about learning how fear, loyalty, anger, ego, identity, money, tribalism, status, slogans, and repetition can be used to shape what people believe.
It is also about asking whether we can use influence ethically — with honesty, transparency, respect, and accountability.
In other words:
How do we persuade without deceiving?
How do we lead without controlling?
How do we challenge people without humiliating them?
How do we tell the truth without becoming cruel?
How do we stay human in a world that keeps rewarding performance over character?
That is the heart of the podcast.
Why This Podcast Exists
Truthful Manipulation began with a simple concern:
Too many people are being influenced without realizing it.
Not because they are stupid.
Not because they are weak.
Not because they “should know better.”
But because manipulation is often designed to bypass our better judgment.
It moves fast.
It uses emotion.
It creates urgency.
It rewards loyalty over honesty.
It makes people afraid to question the group.
It turns disagreement into betrayal.
It turns facts into enemies.
It turns accountability into an attack.
And if it works long enough, people stop asking, “Is this true?” and start asking, “Is this good for my side?”
That is when manipulation becomes dangerous.
Because once truth becomes secondary, almost anything can be justified.
Truthful Manipulation pushes back against that.

Truthful Manipulation helps people see the game.
Not so they can become cynical.
Not so they can manipulate back.
But so they can stay grounded.
So they can think clearly.

So they can laugh at the absurdity without surrendering to it.

Dan is very knowledgeable in his approach in talking about what we are to expect in the coming episodes, giving a good background to himself and a detailed introduction to you too.
How he mentions ethics stood out to me because ethics aren’t as linear as some people think it doesn’t have to be a crisis of conscience situation to administer an ethical code or moral compass as it’s something that comes in with our everyday lives.
I loved using the Latin meaning of automobile too to move by one’s self. Beause that’s what we are, free thinkers and free movers but as with things in everyday life we can be misled by someone or a system in which morality isn’t looked at and or even considered. For example, buying a bar of chocolate in a shop where the price is different from what it says on the wrapper. Small as that may be it makes you believe and assume a level of apprehension towards buying things at sticker price.
The example of your GM car portrays that label of understanding through experience. You knew what the ethical standards were but being young you allowed yourself to experience it.
In my opinion, yes you might have done it another way or not all but, you allowed yourself to learn something, not leaving any doubt to only be the lesson you taught yourself.
I consider you as one of my biggest and best teachers in life so having this voice in my ear both with you and Dan it’s so fulfilling and uplifting

You guys are on to something good. I’ve noticed the ethics and morality in this country have diminished over the last 4 decades. It has accelerated in the last 16 years. I think the problem starts at school. One of your sports car’s components could be the education system and belief in ethics and morality.
